A special message to Ann Arbor from Moses:

  • Wonderfully entertaining and amazingly creative. the puppeteers were creative adlibbers and very inventive. There were belly laughs in the audience and on stage. The evening was loads of fun!

  • People Are Talking: UMS presents Chris Thile at Rackham Auditorium:

  • It was fantastic! I had never heard of him but my husband had. We got tickets as soon as Ken alerted us to the upcoming concert and are SO glad we did!

  • Propeller: What would Brook think?:

  • Frankly, I got more out of Leslie Stainton’s reveiw of Rutter’s talk than I did from being present Monday night for Rutter’s presentation. A such tightly written review when read aloud at great speed while disparate slides of multiple Propeller performances of several Shakespeare plays whipped by on the screen, left me with my head spinning and dreading Richard III, expecting it to be as disparate and disjointed as I found Rutter’s presentation. I wish I could read the review now that I have seen the marvelous and truly amazing production of Richard III (which I have seen several times, not only with the RSC but in Stratford, Ont. with Brian Bedford as Richard. I’m sure I would find Rutter’s review profound and revealing. Propeller was far and away the best Richard the most immediate and thrilling to see as well as to feel a part of. Rutter was right, it’s a very immediate experience of Shakespeare. The actors are superb in their craft as well as being good singers.
I’m looking forward to seeing Comedy of Errors tomorrow. I’ve heard from others who have seen it that it was one of the most enjoyable UMS presentation they have ever seen, and there have been many.
    Don’t miss it!

  • People Are Talking: Bach Collegium Japan:

  • we’re accustomed to thrilling performances presented by UMS, but the experience of hearing the Bach B Minor Mass live by the Bach Collegium Japan was sublime: the orchestra’s superb artists, the vocal soloists, especiall Clint van der Linde, exceptional. And of course in the wake of such incredible tragedy in Japan, the whole experience very moving.

  • People Are Talking: Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán:

  • We LOVED the Mariachi Varga performance and the enthusiasm of the audience. It was a real happening!

  • People Are Talking About…Pieter Wispelwey:

  • He was fantastic! I had heard from Elana Delbanco, the daughter of a famous cellist, to expect great things, and indeed I was not disappointed, except for the fact that the onslaught of a cold, chills and fever, made me head for home at the intermission. Thanks, Michael, for introducing us to this great talent.
