People Are Talking: UMS Presents Dan Zanes & Friends at the Power Center:

  • Oh – yes – good point, Liz. I do remember it being impossible to decipher what they were speaking about between songs last time at Rackham. We obviously still had such a good time that we forgot about that part! Thanks for making sure we have the best space possible for each performance! 🙂

    Hi Jen!
So glad you enjoyed the show–DZ&F are a really great group. I don’t even have kids and I love them!
As Beth mentioned below, the space at Rackham is great for a family show. It’s like one big living room with lots of room to dance! But in recent years, we’ve steered away from presenting amplified music in Rackham due to comments we’ve had from audience members and artists about the sound quality of amplified music in Rackham–that was our reasoning for giving Power Center a try this time around!
    Thanks for coming!

  • People Are Talking: UMS Presents Dan Zanes & Friends at the Power Center:

  • Hi all! Beth from UMS here – so glad you all loved the show! I was able to attend the 4pm show with my 3 year old, and it was just as Brian described. What a dance party! It is true, Jen, there is better space to dance at Rackham (where I believe they have performed several times in UMS history) – but I had to admit the toddler mosh pit was still a pretty rockin’ place. It was great to see the artists stay in the lobby talking to kids until the lobby was empty. Glad you got to meet everyone, Maddy and Amy! It was great to see the whole crowd jump up at the end to “All Around the Kitchen” (http://www.danzanes.com/videos/all-around-the-kitchen) – its still playing over and over in my head!

  • People Are Talking: Baby Loves Salsa:

  • Glennda –

Aside from searching around on YouTube, the group has a great website at http://babylovessalsa.com/video/ where you can check out audio/video and follow other information about their performances.

    Enjoy!

Where do we have to find their performance? Do they have a video?

  • What a fantastic interview – and great kickoff to the Living Archive!

  • Mary –

See Liz Stover's link above – it forwards you to the usual list we put out each year onhttp://www.ums.org. The umsLOBBY.org site was designed to incorporate the plethora of multimedia opportunities out there, as you see above. But we also know that you like to get your facts – straightforward and fast – and that's why we've kept the simple lists and ticket info on our main website,http://www.ums.org. There are also video links there on each individual artists' page as we get into the season. Hope that clears things up a bit.

Sorry, I find the interjection of large-format videos confusing. What is wrong with a nice list, clean and simple, and then a hyperlink to the video for those who want it? The whole page is so covered with banner headlines, the ordinary type (what little there is) gets lost. Banner HEADlines should be just for that — not so many and so diffused. Maybe the younger generation can cope — I find it just unreadable. — Mary Price

  • People Are Talking About…Cyro Baptista:

  • @Amy – My daughter is 18 months – same thing! She was a crazy bundle of energy for the next couple of hours. I think my favorite part was the kiddie "mosh pit". I also thought it was a bit loud – though it started out just fine. It didn't seem to bother my daughter, but I know there were a few people who moved around, or might have left. @Archer – I agree – I'd rather not use earplugs either. I'll try to find out some info from a few of my co-workers at UMS re: sound levels. @Margaret – I agree!! Bring them back!!! 🙂

  • People Are Talking About…Cyro Baptista:

  • I can't wait to go to this concert! I'm always looking for opportunities to expose our toddler to new and different kinds of music – and I'm grateful that UMS presents a few shows each year that young children can attend. My daughter LOVES world percussion – her favorite toy is a little djembe she got for her first birthday. I think she'll be dancing on her feet the whole hour (like she did for the Keith Terry concert earlier this year)!! Are you bringing a child to the Cyro Baptista concerts and/or the educational percussion activity beforehand? I'd love to hear about your experience!

  • Exclusive Video: Backstage with THE BAD PLUS:

  • OMG! Did he just play "Electric Car"? I can't get that song out of my head. This is great! I love to see artists backstage in their "natural habitat" – haha. More more more!

  • People Are Talking: Bill T. Jones & Arnie Zane Dance Company:

  • Works great – thanks!
