Zakir Hussain’s music sounded so effortless, the music softly diffused throught and yet felt crisp enough.

Next favorite was Rakesh Chaurasia on flute and UmaShankar on gatak. Dholak by Sharma and sarod by Khan were also amazing. Also great were the drummers from South India, Uzbekistand and Khureshi.

It was an amazing evening. I was so fascinated to see Ustad Zakir Hussain live!I was a kid when I used to imitate his wah Taj ad. This was the first time I was able to attend his performance and I bet it was a dream come true. No wonder why Zakir is considered as a Tabala Mastro! He was exceptional as usual. The concert was made more special by Zakir due to the explanation he gave to the first part and made us understand the flow of music which made me(who has no clue about music) appreciate it even better. Every musician was so perfect and Rakesh Chaurasia’s flute was melodious and added a magical touch to the evening concert. The maipuri drummer and the sarang was gave a traditional touch. The icing for the show was the final performance by all the musicians. I really enjoyed every bit of Jugalbandhi that was performed. I want to thank UMS and the musicians for an enthralling evening. And special credit to UMS for arranging this during the finals time I bet we students needed a break 😉
